Later in life I found a book on tea leaf reading in a shop and decided to try it for myself. From this I gave friends and family readings at home.

I donated a book to the Tamworth Library as it is out of jurisdiction for them to buy them in Australia. I also donated the book to other places as I thought it would be good advertising for me.
I sent my book to the National Library of New Zealand resulting in 10 libraries purchasing it. I am the only New Zealander so far to have a copy of a tea leaf reading book in libraries in New Zealand.
I also sent copies to the Spiritual churches, and have sold 2 copies to them.
With my friends help, I had a book launching at the Invercargill Public Library. It was a good night for all involved. I would thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone.

He is now retired Read more...and lives in New Zealand with his Kiwi wife, Delwyn, who served as the Society’s Associate Director for 10 years.
Alan is a graduate chemical engineer and plastics consultant. On returning from a business trip to Rochester, NY on July 2, 1963, with the president and vice president of his small company to promote a patented invention to a national organization, they boarded a Mohawk Airlines flight. The small plane with a full load of 40 passengers and a crew of three, took off and immediately flew into a tornado. The plane crashed on the field, broke into 2 sections and burned. Alan was seated in the very front row next to the company president. All 7 in the front section, including pilot and co-pilot, were died in the fire. Alan was the only survivor there. Most of the 36 passengers in the rear section survived, although one passenger broke his neck and was paralyzed, another lost a leg due to burn injury, and another suffered a burned hand.
Alan was burned 3rd and 4th degree over 45 percent of his body and spent most of the next 5 years in the hospital, undergoing a total of 52 operations (2 non-burn related). He wrote a book about his experience [The Time Of My Death, E. P. Dutton Co., New York 1977]. On a visit to the hospital in 1977 for a book signing tour [Strong Memorial Hospital, University of Rochester Medical Center] he was asked to visit a burned young man in the hospital who was deeply depressed. Immediately following his visit the patient’s depression abated. A close friend, an oncologist, seeing how helpful mutual support could be, suggested that Alan start a support organization. It was then that the seed was planted and Alan established the organization, which he named The Phoenix Society. A newsletter was begun [The Icarus File] which eventually reached a circulation of 10,000 sent to burn survivors and burn care professionals. Membership grew rapidly with members and representatives in 83 countries. [www.phoenix-society.org]
In 1986 Alan started the first World Burn Congress which continues to this day.
In 1994, with the help and support of the Byler Memorial Sertoma Club, he established Camp Susquehanna for burned children in Lancaster, PA with Delwyn serving as Camp Coordinator.
Alan has since written several books and chapters of books on burns. He has been an invited speaker on burn support throughout the United States and in many countries including New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Argentina and Venezuela. He was an active member of the American Burn Association (ABA) and was instrumental in starting the ABA Burn Support Special Interest Group, serving as its first Chair. The ABA presented Alan with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also a member of the International Society for Burn Injuries and a guest speaker at their Vail, Colorado Meeting, in Argentina and Venezuela.
Alan has appeared frequently on television, radio and in newspapers around the world.

 | Name: Pat BurdenBrief Biography: Born in South Africa, my husband and I, together with two children of 11 and 13, immigrated to New Zealand 14 years ago. We love living here, finding New Read more...Zealanders and South Africans to have a lot in common, particularly rugby and barbecues! We put down roots in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay, which I love passionately. On a summer's day there is nowhere better, with its sunny climate and beautiful scenery.
I have had many years of experience as a proofreader, aside from my secretarial profession. For a number of years I had my own secretarial practice, offering a range of secretarial services, with no job too big or too small.
* I have proofread and edited to the point of publication four short books on people's life stories, a novel and a play, all diverse and very interesting.
* I have proofread calendars in the finest detail, as well as writing introductions, informative details and descriptions for these.
* In a market research capacity, I have been instrumental in the proofing and collation of market research submissions for presentation to the company requesting the research.
I have a great love of the English language and a keen eye for detail, easily spotting errors and the incorrect use of language, and would welcome the opportunity of assisting writers with their publications. Read less... Website Link: None provided.

| Name: Derek BurtBrief Biography: My name is Derek Ronald Burt. I was born in England in 1934. I am 190cm tall and weigh 97 kilos. I was educated at Weston-super-Mare Grammar School in Somerset, Read more...England which I left in 1952 and entered the Royal Airforce.
In 1957 when I left the Airforce I worked in the family business for two years and then started a market garden. It became an intense business with a vegetable shop and flower shop.
I married Dorothy Jean Perryman in September 1963, she is 9 years my junior and we raised two lovely daughters. We left England in June 1973 and have been in New Zealand ever since.
At the age of forty one I changed direction and trained to be a psychiatric nurse, staying in that profession for 27 years retiring at the age of 68 in 2002. A year before I retired I bought ten acres of land and built a house.
In September 2005 during election week I suffered a heart attack and was taken to Palmerston North Hospital. After a few days lying in bed, I became bored. I would read the Dominion Post in an hour and a half, so asked my wife to bring me four or five A4 sized writing pads and a box of biros and started to write the book I had been threatening to write for ten years.
I recovered and was allowed home, where I continued to write my book which is part biographical. I finished writing it in April 2006. I then put it on my computer hard drive. I was advised by an American Literary Agent to put it in double spacing and indent for every speaker and have it proof read. This took some time but the book has now been printed in single spacing on A4 paper and stored on CD's, the hard drive and a memory stick in double spacing. Real belt and braces stuff.
I also have a synopsis. It is a novel which takes place in the West Country of England in Somerset and Wiltshire from 1952 till 1960. The title comes from a comment made by Harold McMillan, the Prime Minister of the day, because the economy was running at an unprecedented high and everyone was earning well and consequently living well he said. “You've Never Had It So Good”, of course he was right.
