More recently he was the reporter and Maori advisor for a documentary on the life of Dalvanius Prime and he was the exec producer for ‘Mama Tere’(Visionary Television). He was associate producer and Maori advisor to the new 10 part Maori docu/drama series ‘Taonga’ which aired on TV 1 in 2006 (Greenstone Pictures 2005/6).
From1998 - 1999 He was Maori consultant to the Creative Director of the Maori Natural History Gallery at The Auckland Museum and in 2006 he was employed as Matauranga Maori consultant to Te Papa’s new Whales of the South Pacific exhibition to opened in December 2007.
Brad was co-writer, co-creator, and co producer with Carey Carter of the 20 part Maori drama series MATAKU. He also co-wrote and directed Po raruraru (July 2001) as part of the recent Aroha drama series. He has been a story-line contributor to the half hour satirical show ‘Spin Doctors 1,2,& 3’ (August 2001).
Brad has been a Maori script consultant to many television shows, films and scripts including, Shortland st, Mercy Peak, Mataku, and a number of over seas films including ‘Head Cases aka The Man Who Lost His Head’ (SPP and Greenlit productions UK 2007) and Rena Owen’s ‘Behind the Tattooed Face’ (currently in development.

While there I attended numerous courses including a month long German language course in Vienna and several on history and the arts in Britain.
I started writing on a freelance basis on my return from Europe, while I was still teaching, but I have more or less been a full time writer for the past two decades. At times, however, I have had to supplement my income with teaching. I have taught senior English, History and Classics at secondary schools.
For several years I have run courses in freelance journalism and creative writing.
At present I have a ‘Writing Your First Novel’ courses at the Canterbury University Continuing Education course and another on Writing Memoirs. For this first time this year we are trialling a course on studying and writing short stories.
As well I have run courses at Papanui High and some of the writers from that group have joined together and with the help of a grant from Creative Communities have published a collection of their work. This was done under my guidance. I have also been involved in a similar publication for the South Island Writers’ Association.
