About this title.

When Charlie’s beloved horse dies suddenly, her grieving leads to an encounter with a Genie. Unable to give her old horse back to her, the Genie gives her Talcon. And so begins a roller coaster ride with a horse from another world and show jumping rivalry. With the help of her best friend, Flynn, Charlie has to keep secrets and disguise Talcon’s many differences, especially from her cousin, Susan, who is never very far away and trouble with a capital T. Talcon eats only special crystals and these must be protected carefully. When the two girls fall into a dangerous situation, can Talcon save them in time and at what cost?

I have completed and passed with distinction, both the Professional Children’s Writing course and the Novel Writing course run by the New Zealand Institute of Business Studies. These courses were fantastic. I totally recommend them. My husband Chris and I live on a beautiful little farm in Ohau, New Zealand. As well as working full time we breed Alpacas. In my spare time (when I make some), I take two male alpacas (Dino & Dandy) to rest homes, schools and kindergartens. They have even been in elevators. Dandy is small enough to go right up to beds and visit with people who cannot get out of bed. They are very gentle, special animals. We feel very privileged to be able to bring more of them into the world. I have always been crazy about animals and whatever books I write will contain as many animals as I can squash into them. I have been riding and competing horses for the last 30 years and can’t imagine my life without them.
