Finding what he has always believed to be his ship, the HMS Daffodil, in danger of sinking. Captain Sean Fisher orders his crew to man lifeboats and abandon ship. Only his first mate and close friend Wallace Fraser disobeys. Together both men prepare to go down with their ship. Little do they realize that there is another naval officer on board. Admiral Pip, a courageous mouse who has no time for pessimists. Taking command from an amazed Captain Fisher, Admiral Pip manages to guide the Daffodil to safety, saving the lives of the men on board and earning their undying gratitude.

He has created a character "Admiral Pip" that not only entertains children but instills a message of hope in uncertain conditions that readers could relate to. Admiral Pip is the central character that achieves this message to children and allows them to realize all that appears lost should not be surrendered to - and that there is always hope.
