About this title.

In the past, when I have related stories about my experiences over the last 88 years, people have urged me to write things down. From time to time I did jot down a few notes, but didn’t get any further. I began in earnest when I had a dinner invitation from Kevin and Rosalie Richards one evening. Kevin had graciously taken the funeral service for Colleen. We got talking about some of my experiences and they said, 'Why don’t you write a book? You have got so much to record.’ I said, `I’ve been thinking about it for quite some time, but since that would be such a big exercise, I’d have to decide how to do it.’

About this Author.

This story of my life is dedicated to the memory of my loving wife Colleen who passed away on August 3rd 2004. She died peacefully of cancer after a short illness. While these are the experiences of my life, Colleen and I very happily shared that life over sixty years. Now I feel very sad when writing this alone because Colleen would have been able to recall many more of our experiences together. We lived our lives as one. We went everywhere and did everything together, at home in New Zealand and all over the world many times. Colleen was a wonderful supporter to me in our business, and was a wonderful generous and supportive mother to our three children. Her mothering stood them in good stead for their future, and we are very proud of the achievements of Susanne, David and Bronwyn. Jimmy John passed away in 2009, yet his book lives on.
