Voyage through life is an account of the life and adventures of the author from age four to twenty-five. It covers his experiences through the bombing of Liverpool and Birkenhead during World War Two, and his school years in the UK and America It also tells about his five year apprenticeship in a ship-yard and it covers his time in the merchant navy and the Birkenhead Police Force, leading up to his eventual emmigration to New Zealand. The changes in the way of life from the late 1940's to the early 1960's are quite pronounced, and are told with many anecdotes about his personal experiences.

William Oliver Smith was born
in Birkenhead England in 1937
He married his wife Maureen
in 1958.
He and his wife and two sons
emmigrated to Dunedin NZ in
1964 where he worked in the
building trade.While in Dunedin
they increased the family with
two daughters before moving
to Motueka in the Tasman area,
where they now reside.
