Earth’s humanity, now under the control of the Callistan Order, is gradually becoming a society of secular atheism focused on advancement through technology. Religion becomes a history lesson in superstition and the promise of freedom; security and the evolution of mankind are at the forefront of policies administered by World Premier Russell. H. Moss, and although these ideals are shared by humanities majority, pockets of extremists continue to combat his vision. But word begins to surface of the Callistan Security Commander, answerable only to the Premier and based on the super-city island of Copperland. Rumours that he is unnatural, formidable and responsible for atrocities committed under his brutal mastery begin to gather momentum, and as they do, a new resistance comes to power, one made up of those that know the truth. Meanwhile, Leachim on his return to his home planet Callidorn is immediately recruited by his colleagues as chief advisor in scientific research to aid the completion of the breakthrough known as ‘The Jump-horizon,’ the ability to instantly travel from one point in space to another.
