About this title.
Working in Singapore is the starting point for many ex-pat travel adventures. To us, the call of the Mediterranean has always meant the colours of terracotta and ochre, the brilliant contrasts of blue and white, the multitude of languages, the huge tapestry of history, and the fascination of the peoples. The search for a place to live in the Med took us first to Italy, and, in particular, Sicily.

About this Author.
Lynne was born in Lower Hutt, New Zealand in 1944. She holds a BA in English Literature; graduated with distinction from Wellington Teachers’ College, where she also studied art and pottery under Doreen Blumhardt; has a diploma in water colour and oil painting and has completed her CTESOL. She has recently become a fully-fledged copy-editor and proof-reader.
Among her interests she lists her love of teaching, travel, sport, reading, crossword puzzles, music and choir singing, stage production, theatre, genealogy, gardening and creative knitting for her seven grandchildren.
Her first efforts at writing and illustrating her own books started from the age of six. Over the years she has written and illustrated many individual books for family members combining writing, poetry, drawings and photography.
From the time she could scrape together sufficient funds, she has explored the world, always on a limited budget. Snippets of travel details were often written on the backs of envelopes or brochures, and included sketches of what she saw. Thanks to her mother, Marie le Page, herself an accomplished artist and wordsmith, a lifetime of letters, writings and artwork had been stored in chronological order.
She left her last New Zealand teaching job as Head of Senior School at St Mark’s Church School, Wellington, to become the head teacher of a language school during five years of living in Singapore.
With her husband, John, she has explored many new parts of the globe, but it was their shift to retire to Cyprus that became the springboard for this book. There, it was finally time to realise the dream of combining writing and painting.
Lynne feels there is not enough time in one lifespan to do all the things you would wish to do, and there are always many new corners to explore and adventures to run.
