‘Enchanted birthday’ aims to inspire parents who are looking for more creative ways to celebrate their children’s birthdays. This book is for the many people would love to provide their children with a more soulful alternative than celebrating their birthdays in a fast food restaurant, but aren’t quite sure how to go about it. It presents a variety of ideas for providing simple yet magical birthdays for children aged up to around ten. Included in this colourfully illustrated book are many practical ideas, stories, verses, activities, diagrams, photos, craft patterns, examples and suggestions, from which the adult can pick and choose, or adapt to their own situation. The emphasis is on using natural materials and most of the ideas are inexpensive but lead to truly memorable birthday experiences.

About this Author.

I was born and grew up in the Hutt Valley, not far from where my ancestors landed in 1841. Following a Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria University, I traveled in Europe and lived in England for three years where I trained as a Rudolf Steiner Kindergarten teacher. On returning to New Zealand I set up the Rotorua Steiner Kindergarten where I taught for several years before having my own children, a boy and a girl who are now in their late teens. The question of how to provide a creative, soulful environment for children to grow up in has been the focus of my writing and illustrating over the last few years. I live in Titirangi and I am currently working on illustrating a children’s story I have written based on the extraordinary events surrounding the birth of a neighbour’s child.
