About this title.

The simple telling of an important piece of our history. The only time many of us give the war a thought is on ANZAC Day, when our old soldiers rise at dawn to remember . . . The lines are sparse now, and soon we will lose their tales and memories, and with them, an important piece of our history. Everyone's War is a collection of stories told by those for whom it was all too real. The personal stories of 56 men and women and their involvement in those years of war. From dramatic air battles and torpedoed ships, to the important work of our 'Tuis' and those at home. They call themselves 'ordinary' but they are from a different time . . . stoic, modest and far from 'ordinary'.

About this Author.

Don was a part of our efforts in World War II. From a child to young adult, he was affected by the war. "I'm a product of my time. I lived through that era and I say you don't know what you're talking about if you start to weep and wail and lament about the dropping of atomic bombs on Japan. It was necessary at its time, as much as we detest that, it had to happen. So that finishes the war off. That's the end of World War II." Don's life-long interest in those tumultuous years continues. He has created a book, collecting accounts of personal experiences from those who were in the armed services during WWII, as well as those civilians who lived through the war years.
