About this title.
A gentle picture book story introducing the very beginnings of conservation awareness using positive attitude and delight in the simple truths of life. The early months of a takahe chick’s life is when they are the most vulnerable!
This story is more than just words, as all the while it incorporates ideas in context of imprinting – territory – sanctuary – growing up stages – family life – predators – all very understated – plus an opportunity for children to join in a very predictable chorus line. Illustrated by Carolyn MacKenzie and pupils from Karapiro School it comes alive with the beautiful colours of our New Zealand.
A children’s picture book that would be equally at home on the coffee table or make a fabulous overseas gift.

About this Author.
Having spent over four decades teaching pre-schoolers and still loving teaching full time I continue to embrace my passion for books, words, rhyme, and all things natural.
My husband Gary and I have four grown-up children and one grandchild who, like all little creatures, loves collecting data with all of his senses and spreading delight. Our empty nest is a little bungalow in Cambridge.
