Sally Cornwall was born in Auckland and lived in Rotorua with her husband Kevin and two sons, Aidan and Travis, a hairy dog called Baxter and a cockatiel with attitude called Stan. She worked mornings at the school near her rural lifestyle block, leaving the afternoons free for writing. In 2005 Not a Game came runner-up in the Richard Webster Popular Fiction Award, narrowly missing publication. Sally enjoyed reading thrillers, often more than one at a time. 'One of life's greatest pleasures,' she says, 'is lying in bed reading a book.'
Sally's dream was to become a published author. She died in 2008 while still in her 40s, a year after her book was published. She had endured seven years of massive health challenges. Had her cancer and her friends not intervened, Sally's writing would be still on her computer because she had had no idea how to make the next move to have her work enjoyed by others. Thanks to her friends, who deviously removed her manuscript from her computer, Not a Game was soon published with support from PublishMe. It was a very special project for everyone involved . . . and even better because Sally has written a rip-snorting, page-turning heart stopper!
